Austin city council approves fines for not wearing mask
"AUSTIN, Texas -- The Austin city council passed a resolution Thursday allowing for a fine of up to $2,000 for anyone violating a 'health authority rule' like not wearing mask.
The resolution was supported by Gov. Gregg Abbott, "As you know, these orders were created and adopted based on advice from medical experts, and if these orders are followed, we will be able to protect both public health and the livelihoods of our citizens," he said.
The resolution also allows the city to take "civil action against any person who maintains a business or site that does not comply with minimum health standards."
The vote came as news that COVID-19 transmission may be slowing in the capital city, KXAN-TV reported. UT Austin professor Ancel Meyers told council members the promising news, but said the capital city wasn't out of danger yet."

Things were never too bad here in the Austin area until the bars re-opened and the protests started. New cases peaked at 700+ a day in Travis County. In the last week they have gone down to about 150 new cases a day.. Until today with 600 new cases. 7 of my co-workers have been out with covid and one co-worker's father is in the ICU in serious condition. No customer gets any service from me with the mask down below the nose. By the way most cases are folks 20-30 and very high Mexican/Hispanic infections. Large family gatherings, a big part of the Mexican culture might be to blame.

Large family gatherings, a big part of the Mexican culture might be to blame. The customer(s) may be having trouble breathing, but at least they still have their mouth covered so if they sneeze or cough the droplets will be caught by the mask which is the main cause of spreading “bugs”. The nose covering is a “supposed” protection from breathing in “bugs”. In order to be nearly 100% protected everyone would need to be wearing a hazmat suit with self-contained breathing apparatus.
There are exceptions to these executive orders where they don’t have to wear a mask in public which includes stores or restaurants. gov.texas.gov/uploads/files/press/EO-GA-29-use-of-face-coverings-during-COVID-19-IMAGE-07-02-2020.pdf
The corporation executives and management may be ignorant of these exceptions are in the extreme over cautious mode and the ones below them are in the fear mode of losing their jobs or getting a fine by the government.
