IW: Have you got water and electric there Myka? Feb 21, 2021 23:47:04 GMT
Myka: Finally IW. Was a rough stretch as Central Texas is not designed for North Dakota cold. I stayed home for 4 days in semi survival mode doing all I could do to improvise heat and keep my pipes from freezing and breaking. Thanks for asking. Feb 23, 2021 3:44:30 GMT *
Myka: It was just 2 degrees F Tuesday morning with 7 inches of dry powder on top of a layer of ice. 70’s and T-shirt weather last 2 days and finally some fresh food back in the markets. They were wiped clean after being closed for 4 days. Feb 23, 2021 3:45:55 GMT *
mironlang: I hope situation gets better there Myka ))))) Feb 23, 2021 5:13:00 GMT
griffo: I'm back sorta Feb 23, 2021 10:24:32 GMT
Myka: It is better now Miron. Thanks Feb 23, 2021 13:22:20 GMT
Myka: Welcome back Griffo Feb 23, 2021 13:22:41 GMT
girlscout: Love your new avatar, griffo! Feb 24, 2021 7:50:04 GMT
griffo: Thankss Feb 24, 2021 8:19:11 GMT
wornout: Myka, Sorry to hear that you had to go thru that crap. I've lived in the north, in between & deep South. They always never put the main waterlines deep enough way below the historical data to protect our water of life because they are cheap. Feb 24, 2021 19:50:55 GMT
White Buffalo: Welcome back Griffo! Feb 24, 2021 22:25:54 GMT
kellsbells: Cold weather like that is "just life" up here in Canada! We were shocked to hear how many people died of hypothermia in Texas! So scary. We know how to deal with real deep cold. We have to, or else... Feb 25, 2021 23:09:11 GMT
White Buffalo: this is the folly of this world. People worry and get frightened about Global Warming. Yet there are very clear signs to be found that the reverse is happening. And people are far more likely to die from cold than from warmth. Feb 26, 2021 15:11:48 GMT
White Buffalo: The climate change fools think unnatural solutions like wind energy and solar energy, and the centralisation of provisions are going the save the world. Yet they are becoming more vulnerable and unable to take care of themselves. It is so easy to see.... Feb 26, 2021 15:15:30 GMT
Myka: Kells I am an old yankee and lived in central Maine before moving to Texas. There I saw temps as cold as -20 F and like you up there folks are geared for it. Understand I have palm trees and cactus growing around here. Feb 26, 2021 23:46:09 GMT
Myka: We are ready for a chilly frosty night but temps approaching zero F are unheard of.. Pipes are not buried deep and there is little way of protecting outside faucets. It would not have been such a big deal if the power did not go out during such cold. Feb 26, 2021 23:49:03 GMT
kellsbells: Those are very cold temps for down there; sorry to hear of the problems. The local wildlife are probably in great distress as well :( . Feb 27, 2021 0:29:42 GMT
Myka: Sadly I came across a good sized fire ant mound and nicked the shell a bit to see if there was any life. Sure enough they charged out looking for the offender. The little bastards survived cold they were not intended for. Mar 1, 2021 2:14:18 GMT
IW: I can totally see you kicking the mound Myka :D Mar 3, 2021 5:48:29 GMT
Myka: I kneeled in one hiding in some grass.. I counted 80 bites. My leg was a mess but the important thing is keep em from climbing higher than the 🦵😂 Mar 3, 2021 19:34:34 GMT
