I was watching a talk show when an actress who had been in Startrek mentioned the Prime Directive and non-interference, so decided to look it up. Prime Directive "The Prime Directive prohibits Starfleet personnel and spacecraft from interfering in the normal development of any society, and mandates that any Starfleet vessel or crew member is expendable to prevent violation of this rule" and "As the right of each sentient species to live in accordance with its normal cultural evolution is considered sacred, no Starfleet personnel may interfere with the normal and healthy development of alien life and culture. Such interference includes introducing superior knowledge, strength, or technology to a world whose society is incapable of handling such advantages wisely. Starfleet personnel may not violate this Prime Directive, even to save their lives and/or their ship, unless they are acting to right an earlier violation or an accidental contamination of said culture. This directive takes precedence over any and all other considerations, and carries with it the highest moral obligation." If you go into some of the links under Notable on-screen references, there are some very interesting tidbits, which have given me further insights into information I have come across around the place. Michelle Walling mentioned this series at the beginning of an interview she did with Cameron Day related to 'Janeway', opting not to follow her 'guide' when she passed. Cosmic Awakening ShowOf course we need to keep in mind the 'game' factor here.

I grew up watching star trek as my dad loved the show so much. It was the old one with William Shatner (a mind controlled slave). I later watched the series with "Data" in the Next Generation.
In the show there was a lot of bonding/humor going on between crew members. Even though they went on missions, it was mostly about the "human" factor IMO. It's very romanticizing about what transhumanism is all about--
that we can be Data and be human, exploring new territories, and making friends in the process.

Of course we need to keep in mind the 'game' factor here. In my view, the Prime Directive is an ideal. Clearly not everyone follows ideals. To me, they are important as principles and structure for the time that we have here. For some reason, I needed a model illustration before I had the strength to “model” too. I like living this ay better. =)

His “brother” Lor was the example of electronics going amiss. The unique thing about Data was that he honored the positive human model; creativity, community, and effort. Star Trek portrayed races and females in better job roles than generally accepted in culture at the time, so provided that contribution, at least.
