Yesterday I felt I needed to watch this movie which features Sandra Bullock. As always I wonder and ponder why I feel I need to do something because there is meaning in everything we do. And it was about half an hour after the end that I got the insight....
-----
This movie is about a threat to the world. People all over the world suddenly start committing suicide and it has to do with seeing something or someone. Those that survive learn that they have to shield their eyes (wear blind folds) whilst out in the open to protect them from 'it' affecting and transforming them. Later in the movie it becomes clear there are also some humans that do not perform suicide once they have seen 'it'. These survive and act like normal humans but have been altered by seeing 'it'. They now serve 'it' in finding the last normal humans and transforming them by removing the blind folds and make them 'see'. These servant humans see something really beautiful in 'it', which mostly is presented in the movie as a dark or un-visible presence that talks to its victims to lure them into opening their eyes.
At the start of the movie Sandra is pregnant with child and she gets rescued from all the mayhem by being pulled into a house with some survivors. Over the course of the movie slowly but surely everyone around dies / gets transformed except for her son and another child. At some point she gets radio contact with someone who claims there is a refuge place but for that she would need to travel down the river for 48 hours (all the time blindfolded). When she finally looses her best mate she has no-one left except the children and she decides to make the perilous journey. Eventually she manages to find the refuge and that is how the movie ends.
By the way, the reason the movie is called the Bird Box is because birds start chattering and getting excited whenever 'it' comes close so they act as protectors, warning the last remaining humans..

In reflection I think this movie is all about the end times and explains that few of us (the Divine Sparks) will make it Home. It shows that there will be many distractions by the Dark Forces to take us from the path. And we are not to be misled by our eyes, but need to rely on our inner feeling and knowing to guide us Home. Sandra eventually ends up in the special place that has been prepared for the Divine Sparks awaiting the start of the 6th root race....(you need to read Angeliki's book for those that do not understand this last sentence).
There are many other elements that I could point to but this is the essence to me. In a strange way I feel gratitude that I can now truly see what these movies are all about. That they are indeed giving us the truth hidden in plain sight in symbology. So obvious yet totally invisible to the masses who, as symbolised by this movie, walk with open eyes to their ultimate spiritual death. You need to look within to find your Home.....
If anyone sees or has seen the movie I would be interested in their views. Definitely worthwhile watching IMO.
