Ugh, Mary Poppins was so bad the first time, now it sounds a million times worse. Thanks Elisabeth!
I'm not sure why there are so many remakes.. most movies and even basic television these days are revolting crap, hypnotizing, energy draining, soul crippling grossness.
I think last summer I went to a Rock movie, Jumanji, which was a remake of Robin Williams 1995 movie. This is about 12 year olds getting stuck in a game, which traps them and they go through the game trying to escape....hmmmm sound like anything?? It was enjoyable ( I mean they did get out!), afterwards I watched a youtubbe video and heard from "the Rock" himself that he eats babies. The interviewer laughed a bit and ignored this revelation.
Sorry I don't consent to that sickening garbage.
Decency has become a rare thing. Even looking up the word decency: 1. A sense of propriety or rightness: conscience , grace . 3. The condition of being chaste: chastity , innocence , modesty , purity , virginity , virtue , virtuousness . There was a picture attached to it of an old school teacher disapproving and long pointing index finger at you (like who wants decency right?? so not trendy)
Here's a picture of the "game"

Thanks for sharing Irishwome! The white path in the picture of course reminds of the serpent. It 's also interesting to see how they have provided for a positive outlook on the left side (giving hope) and than nothing but warning messages in a reversed form on the right side. Interesting in what I read in the summary of the movie is that the players also discover that you don’t just play Jumanji – Jumanji plays you. Like the carrot they present us, but that we never seem to catch it lol.

quote from Elisabeth irish, i need to view the first M.P. as I thought it was cheerful and lovely in contrast to the latest one, dark and gloomy! But you're saying it was "so bad"? Would you please share Irish, what you saw in the first one? Thank you so much for your insights.
I honestly don't think I'm up for watching the original again to get exact contrast, but I can try and go off my puny memory. Mary Poopins for me, when I was watching the original (gosh I was like 9?), I was also watching most of those dick van dyke "magic" movies. With the candlestick etc..so I lumped these movies together, for me so similar.
Yes, they do tend to self portray as "light and amusing" but if you look at events happening in the movie it was gloomy. Poopins comes in to help this family and she uses her magic to make everything better. If you think about the use of magic, which is extremely prevalent these days, its that humans are not good enough, not capable without help. It also is a draw for kids to experiment and get caught up in the occult. Being normal and working things out becomes such a chore plus it isn't "special" or elevating. I found all the songs too catchy, and I really hated having the songs in my head for days or weeks after. I find a lot of movies that have music, or the commercials with their jingles are like viruses in the mind, blocking any real thoughts from happening, ugh so annoying!
That's about all I've got!
