This book by JVP was published in 2002. JVP explains (I put his words underneath) that he wrote the Gnostic Papers, still being influenced by New Age, but he also says that it is worthwile to read these in order to better understand the Divine Secret Garden better. Just for your own discernment. ...
This is a short description of the Gnostic Papers:
“The Undiscovered Mysteries of Christ Seven mysteries explain the hidden Gnostic meanings of the Bible. The secrets hidden within the words and teachings of Jesus. You will never read the Bible in the same way again. What the Bible really says about life, death, resurrection and the afterlife. The hidden enigmatic parallels behind Jesus' parables. This work inscribes realities hidden within the human race. It uncovers ancient mysteries that have existed before the foundations of this world. Most people are desperately searching for answers and The Gnostic Papers reveals gnosis that has been dormant within all of us. * More people than ever are looking outside of the religious teachings to find the answers to questions that constantly elude them. They are turning more towards Metaphysics to supply these answers, yet they do not want to completely discard the teachings of the church. * This book is an attempt to bridge the gap and connect the two schools of thought by supplying Gnostic meanings and interpretations to the ancient text.”
Reaction by JVP:
Writing the Gnostic Papers was a unique thrill as it was my way of breaking free from the strict religious protocols and giving a new dynamic look at the spiritual. And although I was still learning, I felt that it was a breakthrough.
I felt I was able to help other Christians from a Gnostic Point of view to see things from a deeper spectrum. I felt I was able to reveal scriptures in a way that created a better understanding of what the intended meaning really was, and not the consensus meaning.
However looking back I realize I committed the cardinal error of allowing myself to be influenced by other author's views that expressed their similar views I had been learning. Because of this I had a tad too much of the NEW AGE philosophy in my book, and not enough of digging deep within myself to grasp the most inner Gnosis.
And although I feel the majority of the work did in fact comply to what I was learning internally, some of it was overflow from what others believe, before I had the time to really delve in and search the deeper meaning of what was being provided.
I feel that my newest work, "The Diviner Secret Garden" does indeed reveal the deepest parts of my faith and life long experiences and learning. It finally reveals what the Gnostic Papers fell short.
However, in understanding "The Divine Secret Garden", one truly needs to read the Gnostic Papers to have the encapsulation of thought presented to bring greater awareness. So for this cause the two books bring out the harmony of thought.
I was however not happy with my last chapter dealing with Faith. Faith has always been my greatest and most deepest awareness from within. And I really missed the boat on that one in this book due to faulty influence of other works I read.
I compromised my internal awareness for what others believed. In my newest book I reestablish what Faith truly is.
In all truth, both the Gnostic Papers and the Divine Secret Garden establish one simple key and that is all truth comes from within, but it is a learning experience. Time and error helps us to understand deeper principles in that truth is a puzzle that one needs to put together, it never comes as a complete package.
