I was thinking in the shower (usually my most brilliant moments of the day), and it occurred to me that how we approach the world has a lot to do with the "return" on our investments, i.e., the energy exchange (posted elsewhere in the forum), or karma for short. I was taught along the lines of "Do unto others as you would have them done to you..." or something like that. In other words, be a decent human being by treating others as you would want to be treated. I think that was probably one of the reasons I had such a hard time with the "Thou Shalt Not...xyz" commandments. It seems so much more passive. Don't kill, don't cheat, don't lie...while I basically think that decent human beings would not do these things, it does not necessarily mean that they would go about their day doing something good. "Thou shalt not..." just means to abstain from doing bad things, and usually it's because you fear the retribution in some way. When you "do unto others as you would have them done to you", you are actively engaging in the world. You are investing in it by your thoughts and actions. You are conscious and aware of your impact in the world. "Be kind to to your neighbor and to all living things", is a conscious and aware decision that you can make, because you are an active, powerful person who can change the world. My two cents.

One of the big downfalls of the Christian Church in general is the judgement of others. The very thing they were told not to do. They turn their noses up point and say "those people"
I work with the public and try hard to show everyone I meet respect and kindness. I may mentally question who or what is operating that avatar in certain cases but they will always get a kind response from me. I have not always been this way I admit but hey we grow right? Good behaviors are contagious too!

OBEs; to do or not to do?
There are those that say, we need to know how to move around and where to go when we meet our passing. I think even the Greek lady says we have to go back in time and follow the path that Christ’s soul/spirit followed in order to escape (!?)
There is another, Philip Goddard that says “no-soul” folks simply dissolve into fundamental consciousness, and can follow that up with additional non-karmic incarnations afterwards.
I haven’t read enough to learn how one changes from ensouled (and captive), to no-souled and free yet; other than to do various clearing exercises... which I am trying to sort through now....
Anyone have thoughts to share on this?

Philip Goddard talks about the no-souled folks as those who have NOT incarnated here before// those who are "first timers". All others are souled in the way of the artificial "spirit" with all its trauma and fragments.
I don't think you can change this, which ever you are.
I do not know if OBEs are important in and of themselves girlscout. If it's too difficult as Miron has said, then I would say not to struggle to do them.. Fear is a big obstacle about them too.
I would say to do inner questioning to find out if they would help you..

My thoughts on OBEs, girlscout , for what's it worth.
The astral plane (where most OBEs tend to take place) can be a very beautiful place and you can meet some interesting entities there. But it can also be a dangerous plane, since this is where a lot of the lower essences get stuck, including thought-forms which are not "organic". (Sorry, I don't have better terminology for this.)
In shamanic perspectives, the astral plane is still Middle World. In the Middle World, you are dealing with a variety of beings -- both "good" and "bad". Some are deceased but don't know that they are dead. Some have voluntarily stayed behind for some reason -- they are aware that they are dead, but chose to stay. (These are called ethnocentric quasi compassionate beings -- they have an agenda, usually it's family/clan oriented). Some are animal spirits, some are social insects. Lots of "aliens" reside here. There isn't "evil" in shamanism, but they can definitely cause problems. "Demons" are a lot more common these days. It took me a while to wrap my head around this concept, which I remember reading like 5 years ago, but demons and negative thought-forms are the same. And there are a lot more negative thought-forms now (more people??)
If you are in OBE mode without being fully conscious and aware, you (your astral body) may pick up intrusions and attachments. Sometimes this is so extreme that they're called "possesions" (as in, demonic possession). Most of the time it's not that bad, but it's still a pain in the ass to have to deal with it later. Because this is usually accomplished as you are falling asleep, I will say that you're not at your optimum level of awareness. It's like when you are sick and get that super high temperature and you're feverish. You may have some fantastic dreams while you're in that state, but your body is weakened trying to fight off that virus. In my shamanic training, it is recommended that we do not do any healing work for others (especially depossession or extraction work) unless we are absolutely confident and power-filled.
I prefer to journey to other planes by journeying. I think someone referred to it as IBEs, which is actually very accurate. By using sonic percussion (drumming, rattling), you can alter your consciousness and travel to other dimensions. The difference here versus OBEs is that you are fully aware and you can choose your destination. (So to your question, yes, you can know how and where to go when you transition.)

To do or not to do
Psychedelic drugs?
I had a very intense experience that brought me spiritual understand. It "awakened" me I guess.
So do you think they're useful or do they hold one back?

To do or not to do Psychedelic drugs? I had a very intense experience that brought me spiritual understand. It "awakened" me I guess. So do you think they're useful or do they hold one back? Each path is different and the answer you seek is not with us in my humble opinion. It is within you. I was never drawn to drugs but that does not mean that they are not useful to you or that they hold you back. I have an opinion on it but that is my opinion. One of the hardest things I have had to learn is that all answers are within me. There are really no answers outside of you. You can obtain new knowledge and insights from others but ultimately it is up to you to decide if it is right for you. I can give you my view for what is worth. All means that aid someone to reach another state of awareness are just tools. For example; To reach a non-ordinary or shamanic state of awareness all sorts of techniques are applied throughout the world. In South America Ayahuasca is used, in North America drums are used, in Lapland monotone throat sounds are used, etc. etc.. But they are just means to an end. I started using drums but at some point realised it is just a tool. Now I can go into the non ordinary state by will without any tools. I just do it. So are psychedilic drugs useful or not? It is in the end up to you to decide. And wisdom comes with personal experience. My advise is to learn to listen to yourself. The more I learned to listen to my inner guidance, the easier my life became. I wish you a great journey.

You know, it's funny before I read your response I just came to that same conclusion after pondering what I had just posted. One of the things that holds me back in my spiritual development is my constant desire to have my thoughts and ideas validated by someone else I deem to have more knowledge than me, I realize I don't trust myself as I would like to. How can someone learn if they are constantly being handheld throughout the process? I have read some wonderful ideas on here from others who probably have more experience than myself and I'm grateful to have received the insight as some of it really rings true to me, nonetheless it doesn't negate my own experiences. You're absolutely right, the only one who can know my truth is myself. Thank you for the reminder.

Hi Lavender and welcome!
This thread makes me miss Griffy quite a bit. You made a great point about your conclusion, trust yourself to know and understand a lot more.
White Buffalo has said the same thing many times over and it's one of the main reasons most of us older forum members don't really post quite as often as we used to.
When you have questions, the answers will come. Sometimes almost immediately and so the process begins to "see" the answer which is mostly about listening and being calm. Practice makes perfect.
No one has all the answers (and every answer seems to create another question) and possibly some are not to be had for the present time. The most important thing is to always look inward. What is happening in the world is never as important as what is happening inwardly. Whether this includes letting go of old hurts and wounds or forgiving oneself for past mistakes all things will work together to be what is necessary. Nothing is impossible when you go inward and release yourself from your own boundaries and restrictions.

IMO, no, they may open you up to things that you really don't want to deal with. I did have a OBE years ago and it was only done by breathing and meditation upon Christ.
Here's a worthwhile video to listen to.

Yes, there is the danger of attracting dark beings but for some it still may be the way their path is meant to be. We all have Divine guidance and cannot see the perfect path with our limited senses. I know people that have heavily used drugs and in that way became more aware. And yes, they attracted dark entities and suffered the consequences for a while. But later they were able to shed those entities and came out fully aware and on their path. I was guided to all sorts of 'wrong' directions. In hindsight I can see it was the quickest way to become more aware. So there is always good in an apparent bad thing. Truelight was very wise and particularly knowledgeable about dark practices. This served her greatly in teaching others about finding the True Light...

I only ever had negative experiences when I used the substances carelessly. At first I used them to explore my own mind and had the most beautiful experiences that left me enthralled with myself and life but at some point I started to chase a feeling... a sort of knowing that I longed for and it was if the universe said "OK you want to see more? I'll show you more, but you might not like it" and I had some very ugly and frightening realizations that led me down sort of a dark path for a while. At first I saw the light and beauty and then I was shown the "negative" side of it. It left me in a deep depression that I'm still recovering from but part of me believes that I needed to be aware of both the "good" and "bad" and to find a way to integrate both into myself, if that makes sense. I don't know if those negative thought forms are what you mean by entities. I don't have a lot of esoteric knowlegde, all I have is what I've been shown. I guess it's healthy to question it but it is hard for me to believe that these tools aren't useful albeit frequently misused. Maybe unhealthy for those who are teetering between this world and others. I'm not trying to convince you one way or another. Just sharing my own thoughts. I will definitely check out the video though. I also have a question if you don't mind answering, what do you think makes these substances so much more dangerous than other methods?

Lavender, read Duckie’s post earlier in this thread if you have not done so. OBE in my view do not exist. You perceive going outwards but it can only be achieved consciously by going inwards. This is why I think IBE is a better description. If you think of it all spiritual activitiy is about going and looking inward. This is by the way exactly how Mother Nature works. By spiraling inwards. I agree with Duckie that the big difference between taking drugs or consciously going into non ordinary state is control. I only journey with my Totems and they guide me through the non ordinary world.

Hi Lavender, I will do my best in answering your question to me, "what do you think makes these substances so much more dangerous than other methods?
First, anything you take into the body, does change it in many ways, which mankind as a whole are just getting a handle on it, but a lot of it is still just theories.
Second, just by observation, anybody with an open mind can see the results that drugs, alcohol, and so- called foods do take their toll upon the bodies, minds and souls of our human family.
Third, I do believe that these substances clouds our freewill discernment thus allows these "entities" to either oppress us or at worst walk-in and subject us to their wills just because they think that we willing went along with it in the first place since they think that we are their slaves/creation in the first place.
Thought forms are just that, our imaginations, either positive or negative, but these "entities"project their thought forms into our minds, all the time and their projected forms can be either pleasant or dark. It all depends how they want to play the game with our minds, in order in one way or another, try to gain, the upper hand and in the end game. subject us to their wills.
In conclusion, I rather stick with fresh air breathing exercises and meditations to gain anymore further awareness in my present life, than subjecting my body, mind and soul with any drugs and that includes mushrooms etc.
Oh by the way, I wasn't doing any fasting at the time when I had that OBE. In fact, I don't believe that it is necessary for any starvation of the body to accomplish it. The food supply back in the 1970's was much better along with the water and air in Ohio anyways.
I also provide these links for you to consider that doesn't mean that I agree with everything in them.

I decided to do an in-depth study on the 60’s counter culture and its lingering effect on modern culture. Though the subject does not have a lot to do with things we discuss here psychedelics are related. LSD was introduced to the hippie community via folks like Timothy Leary who was directly or indirectly sponsored by the CIA. So a government agency, probably acting in rogue fashion was responsible for its distribution.
This alone should make anyone think twice about what they consider a mind altering experience. I was once practiced deep meditation but no longer do. I take each moment at face value. I want to be fully aware of every happening. The false imagery created by hallucinogenic influence will probably get you nowhere. I once climbed into a Disney ride called Back to the Future. It took us on a very crazy ride. But it was a car shaken by hydraulics and video imagery seen through the cars windows. That car never actually went anywhere and when we go on trips I don’t think we go anywhere either.

I definitely think powerful tools were suggested to the general public who generally had little knowledge of where these things can take you mentally and spiritually. There are some people who use them as a way to just get blasted instead of having a clear intent of what they're trying to learn or see and that's where it can get messy imo. Especially if one is taking extremely high doses. Although I would rather people be cautioned than thoughtlessly encouraged to use them.
